Pentax Optio WG-2 And WG-2 GPS Rugged Cameras Unveiled


Pentax has unveiled its new line of “lifeproof” cameras, the Optio WG-2 and WG-2 GPS this week. Which have built on the success of the rugged Pentax WG-1. The new cameras mark the thirteenth generation of rugged “adverture-proof” compact digital cameras, Pentax has launched, and they will be available in red, white, black, and orange.
On the outside the new Pentax WG-2 may not look hugely different to its predecessor, but many of the changes have taken place inside. Which now includes a back-illuminated CMOSimage sensor with a 16 megapixel resolution.

The new Pentax WG-2 camera housing keeps your electronics safe unto 40 feet and protects it from drops of unto 5 feet. As well as protecting it from crushing to the 220 LBF and -10 degree C temperatures.
The Pentax WG-2 is also equipped with a HVGA 3-inch wide LCD with protective cover on the rear, and has a useful digital microscope mode, enabling you to focus on subjects as close as 10mm.
The Pentax WG-2 will be arriving in march 2012 and will be priced at $350, a GPS version is also available for $50 extra. As well as an optional SportMount Chest Harness that will retail for around $50.
