Kenko Tokina is set to launch their first new lenses designed for the micro four thirds standards this week in Japan. Including a new 400mm f/8 Kenko Tokina Mirror Lens that will fit the new Sony NEX camera as well as other Micro Four Thirds camera.
Kenko Tokina has already made a reputation for its self building lenses for the likes of Canon, Nikon, Sony Alpha, and Pentax SLR mounts. But the new addition to their range in the form of the 400mm f/8 brings mirror lens to the Micro Four Thirds standard.
Rather than light passing directly through the curved glass elements within the lens, mirror lens technology makes the light bounce around inside the lens barrel. Providing a shorter and lighter lens measuring just 112mm long and weighing 340g, and also being much cheaper than refractive equivalents. The Kenko 400mm f/8 takes 67mm filters, and can focus down to 1.15m, and provides a reproduction ratio of 1:2.5.
Kenko also offers the lens in Canon EF, Nikon F and Pentax K mounts. The SLR versions of the Kenko 400mm f/8 lens are, even smaller than the CSC variants, being only 82mm in length. Unfortunately no information on pricing has been released as yet, but it thought they will be available for around $290.
