Tivo has joined forces with DirecTV to create a new TiVo HD DVR, which it has been testing behind the scenes within a small number markets. Now Tivo and DirecTV have finished testing and are ready to start shipping their new DirecTV TiVo HD DVR (better known as DirecTiVo) to the masses.
Enabling users to enjoy playing, viewing and recording media on TiVo’s newest HD DVR platform. Combining Season Pass recordings, WishList searches, TiVo Suggestions, together with recording space for up to 100 hours of HD programming. The new system will also record two TV shows at once, and access over 7,000 on-demand movies at no extra charge. David Sandford, Vice President, General Manager of TiVo’s service provider business explained:
“DIRECTV customers nationwide can now experience the TiVo HD DVR from DIRECTV, which combines TiVo’s award-winning user interface with DIRECTV’s great lineup of HD programming,” – “With the introduction of this product, DIRECTV customers can again experience TiVo’s gold-standard interface, easy-to-use peanut remote and Swivel Search feature, which allow users to effortlessly find their favorite shows in HD across television and on DIRECTV CINEMA.”
