We’ve seen Apricorn Aegis Padlock DT data storage devices in the past. Those previous devices used USB 2.0 connectivity not the newer, faster USB 3.0. Apricorn is back with a new version of its Aegis Padlock DT external data vault that has USB 3.0 connectivity.
That new and faster connectivity will mean you can transfer data to and from the storage device more quickly. The keypad on the front of the drive secures your data with a PIN number that can range from 6 to 16 digits. The drive even supports different passkeys for up to five users.
The device uses military grade FIPS PUB 197 validated AES-XT 256-bit hardware encryption. That means that extra processing burden of encrypting the data and decrypting it is handled by the drive, not your computer. The device needs no software to operate and comes in 1TB to 3TB capacities. Pricing ranges from $239-$369.
